More of the same happens in the shower and changing rooms, so it is always advisable to take the utmost precautions in terms of cleanliness, hygiene and disinfection.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Taller, faster, stronger… New Year, new life, and the most normal thing is to want to start it at the gym. After the twelve bells the same thing always happens. Quit smoking, call family more often, travel to faraway places, increase savings, find a partner, have children, get a job or simply learn a language, become a better person. And, of course, the stars of the good resolution lists: losing some weight and getting more exercise.<\/p>\n

It is always the same. Foreign language academies and gymnasiums filled to capacity during the first days and weeks of January. For this reason, it is necessary to start right away to prepare and take extreme measures for cleaning and disinfection. Not only because of the Covid-19 that still persists or the flu… There is much more. Thus, every athlete’s letter to the Three Wise Men should include disinfectant gels and antibacterial wipes. At a minimum.<\/p>\n

Just to give you an idea, the weights and dumbbells in a gym can have a concentration of bacteria 362 times higher than those found on a toilet seat, and that’s just the beginning.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

It may be even worse. There are 39 times more germs on exercise bikes than on a cafeteria tray, and on treadmills the number can be 74 times higher than on the taps in the locker room toilets. What’s more, there is an even more disturbing fact: up to 70% of the bacteria in these devices are potentially harmful to human health. Gram-negative and gram-negative and positive bacilli and staphylococci, among others, which are also responsible for causing eye and ear infections, skin rashes and certain respiratory diseases. Just the opposite of what is intended with mens sana in corpore sano<\/em>, which we have been talking about since Ancient Rome. To which we must now add something more… and in a clean and disinfected gymnasium<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Critical cleaning points in gyms and sports centers<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Among the most common is athlete’s foot, which is caused by different types of fungi and, although it does not pose a great risk to health, the treatment to eliminate it is long and uncomfortable. Then comes the flu and, of course, Covid-19 due to the proximity of people. More worrisome are staphylococcus aureus, HPV or human papillomavirus and Hepatitis A or streptococcal bacteria, bacillus and E. coli.<\/p>\n

Exercise bikes, treadmills, weights… According to a study by EmLab P&K laboratories, the number of viable bacteria or fungal cells in each of these devices was more than three million per square inch (6.5 cm2<\/sup>).<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
